| March: Clayton Branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) decides to take on Project: Build a Library for the Clayton Community. | City of Clayton receives Prop. 85 Grant of $2.8 million (65%) to build a library. |
| June: Steering Committee forms; includes representatives from all major community organizations. | 1994 |
| July: Clayton Community Library Foundation is created to raise money for the project. | March 12: Groundbreaking ceremony for Clayton Library. |
